TL;DR
The 8-week lix public preview plan is on track for Dec 16
The goal for the end of November is to be out of the conception phase to prepare the public preview on Dec 16
We might host an in-person lix public preview event on Dec 16 in New York or Berlin. Sign up here https://forms.gle/qdgx57xDjg9aqzkU6, and feel free to share
Hello everyone,
What a time in Opral’s company history!
We are executing the 8-week lix public preview plan fast. You can try out a rudimentary branching in CSV files in this demo. More to come on Dec 16!
On the team front, one person got laid off, and another person decided to quit in October as consequence(s) of the strategy shift and entailed tensions. That’s not ideal, but OK. Opral will become successful if the value of knowing what has changed is high. As long as that equation holds true, no matter how smooth or bumpy the ride is, we will face success.
That’s it for October.
Ever wondered what engineering problems we need to solve for lix? Here is a peek into the development of lix from October 2024: “How to make branching cheap?”
branch-change pointers need to be de-duplicated
chunking pointers seems to be the way to go
mutability should be preserved for fast change creation within a branch
