Sprinting to the lix public preview on Dec 16
TL;DR
The lix public preview on Dec 16 will be tight but enough for 1:1 conversations.
Motivation on the team is climbing again.
No in-person event for Dec 16.
Progress on the lix public preview
We're on track, but we have to take shortcuts.
The demo on Dec 16 will likely need additional explanation to make “click”. Aka, good enough for 1:1 conversations. Mass appeal follows in 2025.
One major milestone was getting sync working with versions. Users who work in the same version get real-time collaboration. If real-time collaboration is not desired, users can switch to a different version. This concept was laid out two years ago in “the mother of all presentations.”
Team motivation
Motivation is climbing again. We are over the “Talfahrt hinweg” ("got over the slump”).
the motivation took several hits after the decision was made to re-build lix in August 2024.
lix became usable internally this month, compensation dissatisfaction was addressed, and the goal for 2025 was articulated
Never lose momentum (watch this), but don’t fear addressing product decisions i.e. rebuilding lix on SQLite stopped every project and tanked the team motivation, but was the right decision
No in-person event for Dec 16
Our effort is better spent preparing remote content like a video than organizing an in-person event for a subset of the people who are interested in lix.
